Planner

BFJ Planning is seeking a talented and experienced Planner/Urban Designer to join our team. BFJ’s work includes a variety of public- and private-sector planning projects throughout the Tri-State area, including comprehensive and downtown plans, zoning studies, land use approvals, housing studies, environmental reviews, and market studies. The successful candidate will have a particular passion for – and commensurate skills – in producing high-quality and compelling graphics, including maps, diagrams, visualizations, and report layouts that will effectively community planning concepts and elevate our work products. The position will be based in our New York City office, with the ability to work remotely up to several days a week.

Skills and Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of relevant experience in planning and client/project management.

• Excellent graphic, verbal, and written communication skills, with an eye for design that can merge these skills.

• Expertise in GIS, the Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, and Google SketchUp is required.

• Knowledge of the Affinity suite and working knowledge of New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) documentation and procedures is a plus.

• Possession of or ability to obtain at least one professional license and certification, such as AICP and LEED certification, is a plus but not required.

• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and people skills that constitute a team player.

• Knowledge of and relationships with relevant professional associations in the region.
